During our normal dry periods in the winter months, be sure to get out and hand- water trees, shrubs, roses and perennials. Pick a day when the air temperature is moderate, when the ground is free from snow, and the soil is not frozen to give your plants the necessary drink of water at this critical time of year. This should be done about once per month depending on available moisture.
Even though they are dormant, the root systems of plants continue to grow, and they need water to survive the winter season. Every year hundreds of thousands of plants including trees are lost due to lack of water. Take this simple step and save the plants in your landscape from this happening to them.
