What You Need to Learn and Understand About Different Types of Weeds

Fall Fertilizer Promotes Healthy Spring Grass Eliminates Weeds

Weeds are a broad topic in horticulture, and even though that is not necessarily one of the most popular topics you’ll come across, it is highly important when it comes to making sure you understand the most essential aspects of gardening and how to keep your lawn and garden healthy over a longer period of time.

Now, a lot of people tend to be confused as to what weeds are exactly. A broader definition of what it means for a plant to be a weed is that it’s “any plant that grows in an area where it’s not wanted.”

Although this is just a general definition, it provides a key insight into the nature of weeds: they can be just about any plant you can think of.

The idea here is that you have to learn about different crops, their life cycles, and the types of plants that could end up damaging them or taking away their nutrients, were they to grow and propagate close to them. For instance, the self-seeding basil can easily invade its neighboring plants, such as the dill.

To gain a more in-depth understanding of weeds, it’s also essential to learn about the life cycle, persistence, propagation and tolerance level of each plant that is normally considered a weed around certain crops. That way, you will not only know enough to identify them, but also on what you need to understand in order to keep them properly under control without harming the ecosystem.  It’s also equally important to feed your grass with a recommended fall fertilizer to promote growth and kill weeds.
